By Technician Clay Thompson
November 17, 2017

At 1634hrs a structure fire was dispatched off of Melanie Hollow Ln, Engine 7 responded quickly with three qualified volunteers and one probationary member in training. The medic unit from nearby White Oak Rescue arrived first and reported smoke showing from the Charlie side, and made the decision to go operational and found a working fire in the kitchen. Engine 7 arrived next, with the driver securing their own water supply, while the crew advanced the 1 3/4" line into the structure. The two crews worked together to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent any further spread and the fire was reported out at 1646. The crews then moved the oven where the bulk of the fire had been, checked for any extension, and ventilated the home.
