Yesterday was a sad day for the White Oak VFD members as our beloved 1988 Pierce Lance rolled out one last time from Station 7. It is off to a new home in Argentina where it will serve the citizens of Bouquet Fire District by providing much needed modern fire engine to increase their fire and rescue capabilities. It served the citizens of White Oak, Stafford County and surrounding jurisdictions of King George, and Fredericksburg.
Engine 7 was purchased new in 1988 from Pierce Manufacturing with money raised by members and donations from White Oak citizens. Bingos, dances, and other events were held to raise the funds to purchase and equip it the new engine with modern fire and rescue equipment. Engine 7 replaced a older Hahn fire engine that required firefighters to ride on the back unprotected from the weather. When new Engine 7 helped modernize the Stafford County fleet by having one of the first fully enclosed cabs, larger pump, and other modern advances not seen before.
